Tiempos Verbales

Presente Simple

Forma:

  • Afirmativa: Sujeto + verbo (raíz). En la tercera persona del singular (he, she, it) se añade una -s al final del verbo. Si el verbo termina en -o, se añade -es (ej. he goes, does).
  • Negativa: Sujeto + don’t / doesn’t + verbo (raíz).

Uso:

  • Acciones habituales.
  • Verdades universales.
  • Horarios de trenes (futuro).

Pistas: always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, never, every day.

Presente Continuo

Forma: Sujeto + verbo to be (am, is, are) + verbo (raíz) + -ing.

Formas Personales y No Personales

Las formas verbales que tienen número, tiempo, modo y aspecto reciben el nombre de formas personales. Hay formas verbales que carecen de persona, número, tiempo y modo. Son las formas no personales: infinitivo, gerundio y participio. Su valor gramatical es fundamentalmente aspectual.

Future Continuous

To form the future continuous tense, we use the auxiliary verbs “will” and “be” along with the present participle (infinitive + “-ing“) of the main verb. Alternatively, we can use the auxiliary verb “be” followed by “going to be.”

Uses: Unlike the simple future tense, both forms of the future continuous have nearly the same meaning and are interchangeable. The uses of the future continuous are the same as those of the past continuous, but in the future.
